At the heart of any great animated movie is a story. The great storytellers of animation, beginning with Disney, used simple pen and paper. With the advent of the computer, the animator now has another tool to use in telling a story. Based upon the precepts of traditional animation, the Computer Animation Camp will allow the animator artist to reach and explore constantly growing heights in animated creative expression. Using 2D animation the workshop will also introduce the artist to 3D animation in storytelling. It will show the participant through development of short narratives how this animation moves from hand drawn, stop motion, pixilation, and other techniques of creating special effects under the camera to achieve their imaginative story. Students will work in the same computer labs that generated such recent animated hit films as Monster House and 9. The enrollment in this workshop is limited so early enrollment is required. Preference is given to those participants who have taken the Animation Workshop.
