This acting workshop offers the camper professional training in the theater. It is patterned after Webster's renowned Theater Conservatory and is an opportunity to work with some of the country's best college faculty. The week's activities involve intensive training in the craft of acting through theater game techniques and improvisation. The workshops are designed to stimulate the creative imagination of each participant. Students will explore performance techniques in comedy, improvisation, character analysis, rhythm and timing, movement, and stage combat.
* Additional Camp/Workshop InformationStudents check-in between 1 - 2:30pm on the first day of camp. Flights should arrive into Lambert-St. Louis (STL) on the First Day of camp between 10am and 12:30pm. Flights should depart from Lambert-St. Louis (STL) on the last day of camp after 6pm. Transportation is available to and from Lambert-St. Louis (STL) for $30 each way. |

Lana Hagan is a veteran teacher who has been on the faculty in the Department of Theater and Dance at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for the past twelve years. Prior to that she taught secondary theatre for thirteen years. During that time her school's theatre program was awarded the 1995 Outstanding School Award by the Educational Theatre Association, and she was named the Theatre Educator of the Year in Missouri. Her drama program and curriculum served as a model for other schools, and Ms. Hagan has been invited to present workshops at state and national conferences. Her advocacy work for the theatre arts in education was rewarded with an annual $1000 scholarship given in her honor by the Missouri State Thespian organization. There have been eleven students thus far who have received The Lana Hagan Theatre Educator Scholarship. Recently she was inducted into the Educational Theatre Association Hall of Fame, the association's highest honor.
She has taught classes in drama, acting, technical design, playwriting and public speaking at the secondary and college level. Presently, she is Director of Theatre Education at SIUE. This position allows her to coach new teachers and to visit a variety of schools where she serves as a consultant for curriculum, best classroom practices, and program development.
Ms. Hagan holds a B.A. in Literature and Language from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, and an M.A. in Theatre/Directing from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. She is also an adjunct professor at Webster University where she teaches Public Speaking and Theatre Appreciation. She holds professional credentials of secondary teaching in three areas: Speech and Theatre, Journalism, and Language Arts.
Susie is a professional actor living and working in St. Louis. She has performed at The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, The Shakespeare Festival, Stages, Hotcity, Stray Dog, Avalon, Arrowrock and Insight Theatre Co.(2009 Kevin Kline Best Ensemble winner for Grace & Glorie). Regionally she has worked at Cincinnati Playhouse, Totem Pole Playhouse and Okoboji Theatre. She's a member of AEA, AFTRA and SAG. Her on-camera and voice over work span the regional and network markets. Film credits include SAVING SHILOH and the recently released GHOST IMAGE. She is an adjunct professor at Webster University in theatre and has launched her own company, PLAY IT FORWARD LLC.
Jennifer Wintzer is a classically trained actor and singer. She holds a BFA from the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University, a certificate in Arts in Education from Marymount Manhattan College, and is a proud member of The Actor's Equity Association. She currently resides in New York City where she is a Master Teaching Artist working for such companies as Stages of Learning at Queens Theatre in the Park and The American Globe Theatre. As an actor she has worked regionally in theatre, television commercials and print and is seen most often performing with NYC-based acting company The Chekhov Theatre Ensemble. When not performing, Jennifer teaches theatre and movement to students of all ages. She is a certified yoga instructor with a private teaching practice. Jennifer finds her greatest teachers to be the hundreds of NYC public school children she works with each week.
Sarah Barker, a nationally recognized leader in movement training for actors, is Associate Professor of the Acting and Movement at the University of South Carolina. She was a member of the training and artistic staff of Shakespeare and Company (Lenox, Massachusetts) for eighteen years. She studied the Alexander Technique for seven years with Marjorie Barstow. She is recognized for her innovative work teaching the Alexander Technique for actors. Sarah's book, The Alexander Technique, (translated in five languages) has been distributed throughout the world for more than thirty years. She has recently published Moving with Ease an introductory DVD for learning the Alexander Technique.
Sarah Barker is past-president of the Association of Theatre Movement Educators. She has served on the Board of Alexander Technique International for four years. She is an Associate Director of Alexander Technique Associates in Tokyo, Japan.
Sarah Barker coaches and choreographs movement professionally for the theatre and has also acted professionally and in the academy. She is a respected actor trainer and conducts workshops in performing Shakespeare, physical characterization and impulse work throughout the United States.
Bruce Longworth has been a faculty member in the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University since 1985, and is currently the Head of the Acting program. He has worked extensively in St. Louis and around the country as a director, actor, and voice & dialect coach. He has worked on over 90 productions as Voice and Dialect coach for The Rep, and has performed similar duties at Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis, Stages St. Louis, and the MUNY. Local and regional directing credits include The Gamester, The Taming of the Shrew and Bah Humbug! for The Rep, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Immigrant, The Miracle Worker, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for the Lyceum Theatre, A Midsummer Night's Dream for Illinois Shakespeare Festival, and The Lucky Chance, Two and Twenty, The School for Scandal, Much Ado About Nothing, The Winter's Tale, As You Like It, 'Tis Pity She's a Whore, Charley's Aunt, Lend Me a Tenor, 13 Rue de L'Amour, Picnic and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead for the Conservatory. As an actor he has appeared at The Rep in The Goat, Scotland Road, The Swan, The Last Good Moment of Lily Baker, Cyrano de Bergerac, Julius Caesar and Our Country's Good, the last of which he reprised at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. He played Henry in Off the Cuff's production of The Real Thing and has acted for The New Theatre, Theatre Project Company. He has worked for Opera Theatre of Saint Louis for six seasons as an actor, assistant director or fight choreographer. Bruce is a member of Actors' Equity and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
