Camp/Workshop Details

Camp Director: Lana Hagan

Join dance professionals and other passionate aspiring artists in this six-day intensive training academy. Dance is an essential ingredient in the "triple threat" musical theater scene today. This premiere program offers daily workshops in dance disciplines such as jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, and musical theater dance styles. Students will focus on technique from beginner to advanced.

Students check-in between 1 - 2:30pm on the first day of camp.
Flights should arrive into Lambert-St. Louis (STL) on the First Day of camp between 10am and 12:30pm.
Flights should depart from Lambert-St. Louis (STL) on the last day of camp after 6pm.
Transportation is available to and from Lambert-St. Louis (STL) for $30 each way.

Directors and Faculty

Lana Hagan

Camp Director

Lana Hagan is a veteran teacher who has been on the faculty in the Department of Theater and Dance at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for the past twelve years. Prior to that she taught secondary theatre for thirteen years. During that time her school's theatre program was awarded the 1995 Outstanding School Award by the Educational Theatre Association, and she was named the Theatre Educator of the Year in Missouri. Her drama program and curriculum served as a model for other schools, and Ms. Hagan has been invited to present workshops at state and national conferences. Her advocacy work for the theatre arts in education was rewarded with an annual $1000 scholarship given in her honor by the Missouri State Thespian organization. There have been eleven students thus far who have received The Lana Hagan Theatre Educator Scholarship. Recently she was inducted into the Educational Theatre Association Hall of Fame, the association's highest honor.

She has taught classes in drama, acting, technical design, playwriting and public speaking at the secondary and college level. Presently, she is Director of Theatre Education at SIUE. This position allows her to coach new teachers and to visit a variety of schools where she serves as a consultant for curriculum, best classroom practices, and program development.

Ms. Hagan holds a B.A. in Literature and Language from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, and an M.A. in Theatre/Directing from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. She is also an adjunct professor at Webster University where she teaches Public Speaking and Theatre Appreciation. She holds professional credentials of secondary teaching in three areas: Speech and Theatre, Journalism, and Language Arts.

Lara Teeter

Faculty

Lara Teeter has performed, directed and choreographed for major regional theatre and opera houses nation-wide. He is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Musical Theatre Program at the Webster Conservatory for Theatre Arts here in St. Louis. Other academic achievements include the Charles B. Levitin Chair in Music Theatre for the Shenandoah Conservatory at Shenandoah University; Assistant Professor for the Music Theatre Certificate program at Northwestern University; and Full Professor in the Theatre and Dance Department at California State University at Fullerton. Lara also served as the Artistic Director of Light Opera Works in Evanston, IL, from 1999 to 2004. Lara has been appearing on the MUNY stage for many years in such shows as Singin' In the Rain, The Wisard of Oz, Little Shop of Horrors, and White Christmas. He was nominated for a Tony Award and won the Outer Critics Circle Award for his performance in the 1982 revival of the Rodgers and Hart classic On Your Toes performing the role of Junior Dolan, originally portrayed by Ray Bolger in 1936. Other Broadway credits include The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, Pirates of Penzance, Happy New Year, and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. Other roles performed in prominent theatres include Jamie Lockhart in The Robber Bridegroom, Steven Kodaly in She Loves Me, and Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady. National Tours include the role of Don Lockwood in Singin' In The Rain, Will Parker in Oklahoma!, and the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz. Lara has performed at Lincoln Center with the New York City Opera as Silas Slick in Naughty Marietta, and as Herman in The Most Happy Fella. In the summer of 2000, Lara made his Carnegie Hall debut performing the role of Henry Higgins in a tribute to the work of Lerner and Loewe, and in the fall of 2001, he made his Lyric Opera of Chicago debut performing the role of Steve Sankey in Street Scene. Directing credits include My Fair Lady for Opera Pacific, The Pirates of Penzance for San Bernardino Civic Light Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, and Dayton Opera, Jacques Brel Is Alive and Living In Paris for the Hollywood Cinigrill, and The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas for the Fullerton Civic Light Opera.

Recordings include the original Broadway cast recording of the 1982 revival of On Your Toes, the Gershwin Trust/Library of Congress first ever recording of Gershwin's Lady Be Good, and the Grammy Award nominated recording of The Wizard of Oz.

Ellen Isom

Faculty

Ellen Isom has had a versatile career in dance since graduating with her B.A. from Webster University. She has danced in modern companies in both Chicago and St. Louis. She was a founding member of Webster Dance Theatre. Ellen has performed as a dancer and singer aboard Royal Viking and Royal Cruise Lines where she also served as dance captain and assistant choreographer. Ellen is a proud member of Actors' Equity and has performed in musical theatre venues regionally in the United States including the Goodman in Chicago and Stages St. Louis. Favorite roles include Maggie Anderson in Brigadoon, Fruma Sarah in Fiddler On the Roof, Vivien Della Hoya in Promises, Promises, Woodstock in Snoopy. Additionally, Ellen has served as dance captain for over 20 productions including Crazy For You, Cabaret, Hello Dolly, Music Man, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Ellen has choreographed for a variety of theatres in the St. Louis area including Stages St. Louis, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, New Jewish Theatre and Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre. She is the resident choreographer for the Midwest Theatre Auditions. She teaches ballet, musical theatre, tap, and jazz , as well as creative moment. At Webster University, Ellen has choreographed many musicals for the Conservatory including Lucky Stiff, Nine, Rodgers and Hart: A Celebration, Bye Bye Birdie, No No Nannette, Violet , Ruthless-The Musical, and Cabaret. Ellen is an adjunct faculty member serving the theatre and dance departments. She presently teaches jazz and both beginning and intermediate ballet which she finds particularly rewarding.
