Washington D.C. - Dance for the Musical Theater Stage

This premiere program in musical theater dance styles offers daily workshops in dance disciplines such as jazz, tap, ballet, and hip hop, from beginner to advanced. Evening programs for students will include a backstage tour of the Kennedy Center and interactive workshops on acting and singing for the dancer.

Students check-in between 2 and 3:30pm on the first day of camp.
Flights should arrive into Reagan or Dulles on the first day of camp prior to 2pm.
Flights should depart from Reagan or Dulles on the last day of camp after 7pm.
Airport transportation is available to and from Reagan or Dulles for $30 each way.

Program Directors

Carol Schuberg, Program Director
Carol Schuberg has performed on Broadway in Meet Me in St. Louis, and in the National tour of Cats, Promises, Promises, Tap Dance Kid, Barnum and Gigi. She has played Erma in Anything Goes, Sheila in A Chorus Line, Electra in Gypsy, Rose in Bye, Bye Birdie, and Conchalla in the The Late Henry Moss. She choreographed Avenue X for Cain Park, Two Gentlemen of Verona for the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival and Nine for New York University. She was Assistant Choreographer for Tony Stevens on Sweet Charity (for the Istanbul Opera), Sheba, Promises, Promises, Bye, Bye Birdie, The State Farm Industrials, and the King.com Industrial. She also assisted Michael Smuin for the film The Fantasticks, Ted Pappas on The Pajama Game for the New York City Opera, and Janet Watson on Anything Goes and Gypsy. Carol has taught theater dance, jazz, tap and ballet at New York University, the American Music and Dramatic Academy, Broadway Dance Center and Jefferson High School for the Performing Arts in Portland Oregon. She received her BFA in Ballet from the University of Utah.

Faculty

Robert Tunstall, Program Director
Robert Tunstall: Kennedy Center appearances include Celebrate Broadway starring Linda Eder and John Lithgow and the 35th Anniversary Celebration starring Angela Lansbury. He also had the honor of staging and performing "One" with the song's creator, Marvin Hamlisch, in honor of Steve Schwarzman in New York City. World tours include A Chorus Line (Bobby), The Wizard of Oz (Scarecrow), and 42nd Street. He assisted Paula Abdul with the choreography for Off-Broadway's Reefer Madness and the feature film The Master of Disguise starring Dana Carvey. Robert is on faculty at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC, where he teaches "Movement for the Actor." He spent last summer teaching Theatre Dance at the United States Performing Arts Camps in Washington D.C. and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Choreography Credits include Cats, Evita, Wonderful Town, Carousel, Les Miserables, A Funny thing happened...Forum and Deborah Gibson live in concert. Robert is a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy - NYC.
