Acting for the Camera Camp Details

Acting and performing in front of the camera although similar to theater is distinctive in approach and technique. This acting for the camera camp is a must for anyone wanting to know about acting for movies or television as it offers the camper the experience of working in single camera acting techniques and understanding what the relationship is of the camera to the performance. Campers will be trained in many of the technical requirements that an actor must know to work successfully in the profession. Workshops in cold reading, audition techniques, camera-combat and focus concentration are part of the campers week long experience. Focused on performance, campers are trained by professionals in the motion picture and television industry and each camper will get the experience of working in front of the camera to realize a finished scene. Guest speakers may drop in from time to time to share their knowledge.
  • "I appreciate as a parent that such a program exists to offer a student such a rich experience in an area of interest which will only serve in the most postive manner no matter what the student chooses down the road. The campus (UCLA) was so lovely and the teachers were exceptional. My daughter has had 2 magnificent summers and will hope to have the chance again. Thank you." Andy comes to us with high recommendations from many of the actors that he privately coaches including Alan Arkin, Bonnie Bedelia, Lois Chiles, Faye Dunaway, and Linda Purl. Known as an actor's director his extensive theater credits as an actor include Broadway's DEATH OF A SALESMAN starring Dustin Hoffman (he played the role of Happy) THREE MEN ON A HORSE and MURDER AMONG FRIENDS. Off Broadway he stared in ROOM SERVICE where John Simon of New York Magazine said that "Andrew Bloch is sheer magnificence" EL GRANDE DE COCA COLA, THE PUBLIC GOOD at Playwrights Horizons and SELLING OFF at the John Houseman Theater. In Los Angeles he has appeared in countless shows at the Mark Taper Forum, the Odyssey Theater, the Matrix Theater, and the Doolittle Theater. He has performed in regional theater including such shows as Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST, MACBETH, THE THREE PENNY OPERA, PLAYBOY OR THE WESTERN WORLD, THE GLASS MENAGERIE, ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST, AWAKE AND SING, THE RAINMAKER and the list goes on. An actor with a massive experience in film and television there isn't a television show that he hasn't worked on.
