Now it's the lure of the screen that sends us to the keyboard. The truth is, we all have a story to tell and learning to tell it visually is a craft. In this workshop you will have the opportunity to work daily with an award winning screenwriter. Students will write short scripts and may bring to class any short scripts already written which will be analyzed and discussed. We will also verbally pitch stories, where students can learn to concisely, logically convey their script ideas. Elements of screenwriting and its legacy will be examined in short film clips and, through clips, we will also explore how a screenplay evolves from page to stage, for better or worse. * Additional Camp/Workshop InformationStudents check-in between 1 - 2:30pm on the first day of camp. Flights should arrive into Blue Grass Airport* (LEX) on the First Day of camp between 10am and 12:30pm. Flights should depart from Blue Grass Airport* (LEX) on the last day of camp after 5:30pm. Transportation is available to and from Blue Grass Airport* (LEX) for $30 each way. **Flights must be in and out of Blug Grass Airport ONLY**

Screenwriter Charles Edward Pogue began his career with a pair of scary classics, Psycho III and The Fly. In addition to its blockbuster box office, The Fly won overwhelming critical praise. Hailed as a 'masterpiece of horror', it made every major critics' best of the year list including the National Board of Review. It garnered an Academy Award for Best Make-up and also the Best Picture and Best Actor Saturn Awards from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror. Between them, The Fly and Psycho III were nominated for eight Saturn awards. Shifting from horror to fantasy, Mr. Pogue's swashbuckling epic, Dragonheart boasted an international cast... Dennis Quaid, Pete Postlethwaite, David Thewlis, Julie Christie, and Sean Connery as the voice of Draco, the computer-animated Dragon. Mr. Pogue's novel of Dragonheart has been published worldwide in several different languages and is in its fifth edition in America. He is the recipient of the first-ever 'Distinguished Alumni Award' from the University of Kentucky, College of Fine Arts.
