Broadway artists, professional faculty and students with a passion for singing join together for a six-day intensive summer voice camp training academy. This prestigious summer voice camp offers daily workshops in developing vocal technique, sight-reading, broadening vocal performance styles from classical and Broadway belt to pop, and the basics of acting for the singer. Classes provide group sessions as well as one-on-one coaching. interactive evening activities include workshops on how to sell the lyrics of a song, building vocal repertoire for auditions, and how to find and select new material to sing. This summer camp will conclude in a final performance for family and friends.
* Additional Camp/Workshop InformationStudents will be housed at Merrill Hall on the Hampshire College campus. Students check-in between 1 - 3pm on the first day of camp. Flights should arrive into Bradley International(BDL) on the First Day of camp between 10:30am and 2pm. Flights should depart from Bradley International(BDL) on the last day of camp after 7pm. Transportation is available to and from Bradley International(BDL) for $30 each way. |

BRETT SCHRIER has an extensive musical theatre resume which includes: composing, musical directing, conducting, vocal coaching, acting and directing.
After spending his childhood years as a professional actor, Brett attended The Boston Conservatory, where he pioneered a program and graduated with an individualized degree in Musical Direction for the Musical Theatre. Some of his recent musical directing credits include: I Love You-You're Perfect-Now Change, 42nd Street (National Tour), Hairspray (National Tour), Les Miserables, Cats, Miss Saigon, The Will Rogers Follies, Fiddler On The Roof, Beauty And The Beast, and A Chorus Line. As a stage director, his work has come to life at several regional theatres throughout the country and includes: The Fantasticks, Grease, and Forever Plaid.
Brett's first original musical, Take Two, recently earned rave reviews during a World Premiere Production at Northern Stage. He also composed an original musical score for an adaptation of Mr. Popper's Penguins, which opened its first regional theatre production in May 2010. Brett's musical arrangements are frequently heard in public performances and recordings. He has conceived and arranged numerous cabarets and concerts, and his work is continually performed at distinguished New York City venues including: Ars Nova, Joe's Pub, The Duplex, and The Knitting Factory. Brett also serves as Music Director for Broadway In South Africa - and spends a great deal of time educating young musicians around the globe.
He currently resides in New York City, where he continues to compose original music, teach musical theatre at Marymount Manhattan College, and work as a private vocal coach to some of Broadway's most gifted stars. Brett is a proud member of ASCAP, The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers.
Brett's newest original work, Substitute Dreams: A New Musical, will continue the developmental process later this year in New York and just finished an AEA Staged Reading. He is thrilled to add his most recent original music, book, & lyrics to the musical theatre repertoire.
Hampshire College is a small, independent, coeducational liberal arts college located on 800 acres of meadow and wooded land in Amherst, Massachusetts. An integral part of the Five Colleges Consortium, comprised of Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Hampshire College hosts several US Performing Arts Summer Theater Camp Workshops.
