Two time Emmy award-winning MARY LOU BELLI has been directing television for over 20 years including NCIS New Orleans, Monk and Hart of Dixie as well as Wizards of Waverly Place, Sister, Sister, Charles in Charge, Girlfriends, and The Game. She has done groundbreaking work in the field of web series, her first two - both award winners.
She has judged film fests both in the US and internationally including the Sapporo Short Film Festival and the Newport Beach Film Festival and been a lecturer at the Chautauqua Institute, and a panelist for Women In Film, the DGA, SAG, and AFTRA and the L.A. Times Festival of Books.
Her short film, Straight Eye for the Gay Guy, now doing the festival circuit, won "Best Mini-short" at the California Independent Film Fest.
She is the co-author of three books: "The NEW Sitcom Career Book", "Acting for Young Actors," and "Directors Tell the Story" which she co-wrote with fellow DGA member Bethany Rooney. Mary Lou teaches part time at USC's School of Cinematic Arts.
Charles Dougherty is an actor, cinematographer and teacher. As a Director of Photography, Charlie shot the Web Series: The Drunk Lonely Wives Bookclub, Panty Soldiers and The Naked Truth. He was the Director of Photography and Producer of a short film entitled Straight Eye for the Gay Guy that has appeared in numerous film festivals, winning The California Indie Film Festival. Charlie has been a working actor for over 30 years. He has been on numerous television shows from Happy Days to The Middle with stops along the way on such shows as Bones, Monk and Quantum Leap. He has also appeared in numerous made for television movies. In his career as an actor he has appeared in over 150 television commercials, some of them memorable classics. Charlie appeared with Minnie Driver in the film Beautiful directed by Sally Field. He was in the comedy classic Kentucky Fried Movie. Charlie has a strong background in Improvisational Theatre which he uses in the teaching of Acting. Along with Mary Lou Belli, Mr. Dougherty has taught ACTING FOR THE CAMERA at Georgetown University, Amherst College, Stanford University and Pepperdine University for US Performing Arts for the past 8 years. He has also been a guest lecturer teaching film acting at the University of California Irvine and California State University Long Beach.
Rick Hawkins is an Emmy-winning screenwriter, whose quarter of a century career in Hollywood includes successes as a producer, studio executive, and international media consultant. Beginning with The Carol Burnett Show, where his now iconic "Went With the Wind" sketch contains the longest sustained laugh in television history, Hawkins went on to pen the ABC telefilm, The Love Boat, which piloted the long running series. Hawkins' writing credits include landmark variety series, top rated sitcoms and dramas, for which he has earned seven Emmy Award nominations and five WGA Award nominations. Hawkins has penned the book for several musicals, including the "Lunch," which had it's West Coast premier in January of 2014. Hawkins has served as lecturer and teacher at the University of California Los Angeles and the University of Moscow, as well as the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Warner Brothers Comedy Writing workshops. He is currently serving as a Teaching Artist in the Cinema Arts Department of Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where his focus of instruction is screenwriting (for screens large and small.)
