Join other enthusiastic students from all over the world in this essence of "triple threat" training in acting for the musical theater stage.

Camp/Workshop Details

Program Director: Elmore James

This premiere program offers daily workshops in the essential components of acting - character development and interpretation, scene study, improvisation, the basics of Shakespeare, and monologue preparation - from beginner to advanced. Evening activities include a backstage tour of the Kennedy Center and interactive workshops on stage direction, period research, and understanding acting through the eyes of a director. This dynamic program will culminate in a final performance demonstration for family and friends.

Commuter students will check in at 830am daily beginning on the day after camp begins.
Residential students check-in between 2 - 3:30pm on the first day of camp.
Flights should arrive into Reagan (DCA) or Dulles (IAD) on the First Day of camp between 10am and 2pm.
Flights should depart from Reagan (DCA) or Dulles (IAD) on the last day of camp after 7pm.
Transportation is available to and from Reagan (DCA) or Dulles (IAD) for $30 each way.

Elmore James

Workshop Director

His Broadway credits include: Jim in Big River, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well... , Your Arms too Short to Box with God with Patti LaBelle and Al Green (also recorded with Patti LaBelle), and the original cast of Beauty and the Beast. Most recently Mr. James shared the stage with Patti LuPone in the Kennedy Center's production of Regina and with Reba McEntire in the Carnegie Hall concert version of South Pacific. Mr. James studied opera at The Juilliard School and made his professional opera debut as Leporello in Don Giovanni in the famous Peter Sellars production. Additionally, Elmore has sung as a soloist at the Metropolitan Opera House, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and has sung for many US Presidents, and European royalty. Most recently Mr. James performed in the Swedish premiere of the Broadway hit, The Full Monty. Directing credits from Broadway to international, from Shakespeare to Andrew Lloyd Webber. When Elmore has the time, he lends his teaching talents to New York University, Mercy College, Iona, SUNY Purchase and the School of Performing Arts.

With its ideal northwest locale, George Washington University is within easy visiting of all the historic sites in our nation's capital and steps away from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. These are fantastic programs to coincide with a family vacation to Washington, D.C.
